The days have melted together it seems like. I never did a post about when my book release for paperback and that is a month ago now.

The days have grown colder and I had to kick the heat on this morning. It’s been nice to enjoy the fall air with no AC or heat running. Opening the windows and letting the fresh air in. The cats have enjoyed the open windows as well.

I had a virtual launch party and it was amazing. I had such an amazing team helping me make it perfect. Now, one month later, it still feels a bit surreal that I am a

published author and my book it out in the world.

I attended Missouri Day Festival in Trenton, MO last weekend. It was such a fun event. Cold, but still fun. I talked with a lot of people about my book and my message. Even sold some books to some excited readers.

One experience I had was an author’s dream. I was standing, smiling and greeting people. One lady came up, looked at my book, then to me, then back to the book. She started to get excited. She said, “It’s you!”. She continued to get excited. After a moment she told me she had my book and read it. Loving it. It was amazing to meet a fan in rural Missouri of all places. We chatted a bit and that moment will stick with me for awhile. It was my first fan meeting.

It also got me realizing that I need to keep writing. She asked if there would be a book two. It is in the plan but as of lately, I haven’t been writing much. With some help from my best friend and fellow writer, I think I have a direction and could possibly start writing here soon.

It will feel good to be back to it. Continuing the story of my main character and to talk about mental illness in a fantasy setting. With the weather turning colder, it is the perfect time to snuggle up with my mac, a cup of warm coffee, and just write.

I need to give myself permission to just sit and write and not worry about anything pertaining to it. To not worry about spelling and grammar, and if I will use it or not. I just need to sit and write again. Giving yourself permission to just write is amazing and something I have forgotten about.  It isn’t just writing. We need to give ourselves permission to have self care, to relax when we are busy, and to have fun. Many times, we get too caught up with life that we don’t do the things we love, because we feel we don’t have the time or it’s being selfish. Give yourself permission.

With the holiday season right around the corner, this can’t be more important to remember. Take time to slow down as the hustle and bustle starts up with the holidays. Remember why and what you celebrate and slow down.  Remember to be kind to everyone. You never know what they are dealing with underneath.

That is all of my thoughts for now. Have a wonderful weekend and fall season.
